Bright Fairy

This was made for a January Challenge on The Bunny & The Bee's Crafty Hive (Facebook group), and - as you can tell from today's date - I missed it! Lack of time, energy, etc.. excuses, excuses. Ah, well. I'm an admin on that group, anyway, so I wasn't eligible for the prize draw. Poo.

However, I am a 'Completer/Finisher' (eventually), so had to do it. The theme was 'Bright & Beautiful', and I'm not one for colouring, much, so I used the brightest alternative background I could find... from DCWV, 'The Blossoms & Butterflies Stack', with a cute fairy by Janet Klein at AALL & Create, with accompanying sentiment from the same set.

I added some sequins (obvs), and some glitter (not so obvs). In an attempt to show the bling, I have also made my first attempt at adding a video to a post... below. If it worked.

Debut card for Sassy Crafts DT

Sassy Crafts have a weekly challenge for their DT, published on Wednesdays, and which everyone is invited to join. This week's theme is 'Thinking of You', which is highly appropriate for me at the moment. Sadly, I have a number of friends at the moment who all seem to be going through difficult times. This card was planned before the DT challenge was published, but happens to fit right in with it. I'm sure the recipient won't mind if I use it for a double purpose.

I hope she likes it.

Recipe
  • I have taken just a portion of the lovely Sarah Kay stamp, Rose's Garden, as when you isolate her pretty head, she looks quite pensive.

  • The white panel she is mounted on is embossed using the Cuttlebug 'Floral Fantasy' embossing folder, and the DP is from the DCWV Blossoms & Butterflies Mat Stack.

  • The smaller flowers are Primas from a bag of petals, like THESE. The gold flower is from stash, and you can purchase Junkitz flowers (like the large green petals on my card) from HERE.

  • Vellum, holographic heart stickers, ric rac, brads and gems from stash, but there are a wide selection of brads and ribbons available HERE.
Have also blinged just about everything with Stickles.

Today's creation...

This card is made almost entirely from the Trimcraft prize stash I received yesterday. (Scroll down a post for a pic of the prize.) Isn't it pretty? The agonies I had to go through before cutting that stunning embossed and glittered butterfly mat down, honestly!! I think it is so beautiful, it stands on its own without the need for further embellishment.

I distressed and inked the edges of the lower panel. It was far tooooo 'clean' for me! lol ;o)

The layout is based on the sketch from the Trimcraft sketch challenge No. 2, and will be my birthday card for my lovely Auntie Pauline. Well, either mine or my mum's! She commissioned me to make a card, so I will make another and let mum choose her favourite.

Card blank: Cut down from A4 silky smooth white card from http://www.madaboutcards.com/
Sentiment: Handstamped using Versacolour inkpads
Everything else: DCWV Blossoms & Butterflies Mat stack & stickers + Dovecraft ribbon
