For the August challenge on the Crafty Individuals Facebook Group, I used Ellie Mulligan's seahorse stamp CI-548 'Under The Sea' from the recent release, and a piece of one of Malc's papers from the 'Wonderfully Weathered' pack. Glamour Dust, Glossy Accents and various gems, pearls and glass cabochon 'bubbles' from stash.

I have a box of pretty, small white cockle shells somewhere that I wanted to use a couple of, but can I find them?! I had a go at disguising a couple of the glass cabochons to look like shells, but it didn't really work. (See below.) Also added the word 'Sea' (using an old Quickutz alphabet), and I'm not convinced by that either! Ah, well.. You have to try these things!

I have to admit that I really love this one. The background paper is designed by Flo Langley for Crafty Individuals.. one of a pack of papers and complementary stamps by the same designer for making backgrounds. I can't stop looking at them; they're gorgeous! Due for launch on Crafty Individuals shows on Hochanda on 7th April. Don't miss them! :-)

The seahorse is 'Sammy Seahorse' Signature Dies SD365 by Joanna Sheen. (The seaweed fronds are part of the same die.) Tim Holtz for Sizzix is responsible for the typewriter alphabet dies.

The white panel is raised on recycled cardboard, and sequins added from stash.

Seahorses

I adore seahorses.. who wouldn't! They're so cute. Here is a small collection of cards I made about 15 years ago, focused on a die from Sizzix from back in the day when they had three thick die sizes, but these were small (green), medium (yellow) and large (red.. the equivalent of today's Bigz dies). The seahorse die I used is a yellow die.

In all of these cards, I've used a large ball embossing tool to sculpt the die-cuts and give the seahorses some 'body'. I've used vellum, reflective mirror card and glittery papers in sea colours, wire, beads and netting to complement the theme. I think what I've done is fairly obvious, but love to get questions, so feel free to ask away if something is not clear.

Down By The Sea

The main components in this one are a Sizzix seahorse (a medium Bigz-type die, although they didn't call them Bigz back then, and they came in three sizes, small (green), medium (yellow) and large (red)), and one of my favourite stamps from Stampland Chicago.

This is the stamp. I prefer to think of her as a mermaid than a naked lady! I did try to cover her modesty in the card above, but here she is in all her splendour here...

Down By The Sea..

This was inspired by a DCM (Daring Card Makers) Challenge, but - as is often the case with only having limited time outside of work hours - I rarely get chance to complete a challenge on time! lol ~ Oh well. Still waiting to come up on the lottery! ;o)

I love all things nautical, so couldn't let this one slip by, and this is one of my favourite stamps, too, but rarely have the opportunity to use it.


Stamp by Stampland Chicago (great site.. loads of fantastic stamps! Go HERE to see for yourself).. plus Doodlebug rub-on lettering, Sizzix seahorse and part of a Sizzix scrolly border-type thing! And various embellishments and glamour dust.

This was one of those cards I started and hated for most of the time I was making it and almost scrapped it, but kept adding bits, and now I love it! I think the white dotty doodling was a mistake, though. Anyway, my lovelies.. hope you like it, too.

Funky Daze #2.. Happy Birthday, Enfys!

Card number two using papers from FUNKY DAZE, and it was for my Funky Hand DT mate, Enfys (or En, as we call her), who spends half her year in Florida, lucky thing!
